A Quick Overview of What the 5:2 Lifeplan Is

A Quick Overview of What the 5:2 Lifeplan Is

Just in case you are new to dieting for life and have not heard much about the 5:2 Fasting diet I will explain the simple mechanics of it. It a slight variation on Intermittent Fasting that was popularized by Dr. Michael Mosley who had tremendous global response to a BBC2 Horizon program titled , "Eat Fast and Live Longer". He later published the book, "Fast Diet".

As the name implies, 5 days out of the week you can pretty much anything you want and pick 2 non-consecutive days on which you will limit you caloric intake. The 2 days you pick to limit your calories will repeat each week. For me, I think the name, "Fast Diet" is not accurate, since in my mind fasting entails that you are not consuming any food. For this reason I call the 2 limited calorie intake days as Lo-cal days, and the open consumption days as Any-cal days. For women, try to stay under 500 calories on these days and under 600 calories for men. It is that simple. You can consume your limited calories any way you want to on your Lo-cal (Fast) days. It is that simple...Easy peasy!
